Our commitment to diversity is a commitment to building a community in which students of all backgrounds and orientations are valued and supported during their years as college students at the University of Chicago.
At the center of your experience in the Collegiate Mentoring Program will be the strong relationship you will build with your mentor.
To get a mentor, all you need to do is submit our online request form. Marcelle Medford, the Collegiate Mentoring Program Assistant, will contact you to schedule a 30-minute meeting in order to find out what you want from mentoring. She needs to get a sense about who would be the best mentor for you (personality, interpersonal style, area of study, interests, cultural background etc.).
In the Collegiate Mentoring Program, we do our best to pair you with a mentor who will be right for you. However, it might take us a few weeks to get you matched with the right mentor, because learning from you about what you would like from mentoring, and taking the necessary time to match you, has been a large part of why the Collegiate Mentoring Program has been so successful.
1 hour a week. All you have to do is to commit to meeting with your mentor once a week.
Your participation in the CMP is voluntary. You can join the Collegiate Mentoring Program at anytime during the school year.
